While this article seems to be geared towards talking to children about sex, it gives a very great overview on what an IUD is, how it works, how well it works, and whether it protects a person against STI's or not. The article does a great job integrated the many different aspects of IUD use, and I would recommend it as a beginner's guide to the IUD as birth control!
