Planned Parenthood offers a general overview of Intrauterine Devices, with picutres of them. However, the photograph used shows OLD IUD's, not the currently used ones. This could stir up ill feelings due to previous IUDs being dangerous to many women. PP addresses the fact that IUDs do not reduce the risk of sexually transmitted diseases, which is a plus in my opinion. While PP addresses the advantages of an IUD, they do not mention any disadvantages, which shows a one-sidedness of the website. Later on they mention "complications" as well as possible "risks" but not necessarily the disadvantages right near the advantages. A mention of ectopic pregnancy is also a plus - while it is rare, it can happen. IUD users are less likely to have one, but signs & symptoms are discussed, providing more information for the curious. The IUD insertion section is spot on and informative. It isn't written to scare people away, nor does it shy away from the possibility of severe cramping from the insertion.
